I Have A Question For You…

Is ridiculously amazing love just for the handful of lucky people who find the right person?

Is an epic marriage only available to people who naturally possess innate relationship skills?

Or…

Is love something you can learn?

I’ve spent the last decade of my life talking to some of the most madly-in-love couples on the planet, and some of the top relationship researchers, psychologists, authors, and experts.

My goal has been to learn the secrets of truly fulfilling, lasting love.

And this podcast is where I share those stories.

Step 2: Check Out These Legendary Episodes

I’ve had some ridiculously awesome conversations over the years.

Here are some of my favorite interviews:

David and Gretchen

This is one of my favorite episodes because David and Gretchen’s marriage is so good, I didn’t believe it was real.

They show how small things done often can make a massive difference, and how attainable an epic marriage really is. The world would be a better place if we had more couples like David and Gretchen in it.

David and Gretchen are one of the most phenomenal couples I've ever met. They have a mission statement for their marriage. They try to get every person they meet one step closer to achieving their goals. How cool is that?! They also gave me some of the most compelling marriage advice I've ever heard from anyone.

Ty and Terri

Ty and Terri have the kind of marriage that, when you witness it, you think, “Wow… I really want a marriage like.”

They are playful, kind, thoughtful, and insanely intentional.

It’s hard to listen to these two episodes and not get emotional.

Favorite quote from this episode:   You become what the most important person in your life thinks that you are. “At the end of Ty’s life, I want him to be able to say, 'Terri was the greatest earthly blessing in my life - the best thing that ever happened to me - and that I’m a better man because of how she loved me.

Forgiveness isn’t fair. If somebody really hurt you, you don’t want to let them off the hook because what they did was wrong. And if you have a high sense of justice, you think “I can’t, because it’s not fair.” He hasn’t suffered enough. He hasn’t paid for his wrongs enough.

Maggie Reyes

Maggie is the greatest marriage coach on the planet.

This episode about creating emotional safety has changed a LOT of lives. Most people don’t realize that over 80% of divorce is caused by “Emotional Drift.” And Emotional Drift is caused when people don’t feel safe with each other.

"We just need better communication." "I just don't feel like I can trust him." "We need to do better at giving each other the benefit of the doubt." These are all symptoms of a relationship that doesn't have a strong foundation of emotional safety. Create more safety, and these problems will resolve themselves.

Heidi and Benji

This episode is so important.

Melissa and I got to interview Heidi right after the sudden death of her husband Benji.

If you’re having a hard time feeling gratitude or appreciation for your marriage right now. If you’re feeling like what you’ve got isn’t what you want… this episode will give you some perspective.

Imagine how it would feel to have the most important person in your life suddenly torn away from you without explanation. You are forced to sit and watch your soulmate deteriorate piece by piece as they slip out of your life.

Here are some of my favorite solo episodes:

The #1 Cause of Roommate Syndrome

Flinching is kind of a strange phenomenon.  It's not something you consciously do. It's an instinct. Your brain forces you to pull away from the thing that could cause you pain. A hot stove, a pointy needle, or a ball flying at your face...

The Marriage Scorecard

Pearson's Law states: "When performance is measured, performance improves. When performance is measured and reported back, the rate of improvement accelerates." We see people tracking, measuring, and improving their performance in business. We see it happening in sports. We even see it in government... although whether or not improvement accelerates is debatable.

Are You Willing To Die For Your Marriage?

What would you do if you had to stand up and speak in front of 6,000 people without notice? Yeah... that happened to me a few weeks ago. I was at a conference, and the speaker, a very intimidating guy named Garrett White went out into the audience to do some coaching.

80% of Divorce Is Caused By This One Thing

I saw another heartbreaking announcement on my Facebook feed a few weeks ago. "If you haven't heard yet, my partner and I are getting a divorce..." This couple had been married for over a decade. They had multiple children together. The news, as it almost always is, was heartbreaking.
